Interviewer:There's that one person you wish you had said "yes" to but you didn't. Who is that?
L.A. Reid:Okay, this is a tough one, right? I actually haven't had that happen yet, but what I did do is... One day, I had this artist in my office. She played the piano, she had on white go-go boots, she sat down at that piano, and she played and she sang. When she was done, I said, "You are an amazing artist, a true star, and you will change music," and I signed her and her name was Lady Gaga. Then, a few months later, I got her demos and it was a work in progress. I was having a bad day, so I said, "You know what, I don't like it. Let her have her freedom, let her find her career" and it was the worst thing I've ever done.
